I went to some galleries today. The work was not spectacular admittedly, but there is a great bookstore there split on the first and third floor. The last few days I have been consolidating my work and planning for its future. I have also been gathering information towards working on a paper for this project.

The paper will involve the screen as a threshold and the screen as a mirror. I will discuss the use of avatars in both first and third person point of view, and question the ownership of these avatars through the exposition of my project. Basically by removing our avatars we lose ownership of them..Or do we? Read more »

Hello, I have included all the diagrams I have been developing of late for this project and for future endeavours. The works all deal with how we spatially orientate ourselves within second life. We acheive this in world through the use of third or first person mode via an avatar, and physically, through utilising a controller interface- mouse and keyboard or a variation of these. technicaldemo.jpgsample3a1.jpgsample3b1.jpgsample3c.jpgsample3d.jpg Read more »

After six weeks of gloomy weather, I arrived in Manchester, and it has be sunshine ever since! There were fine days in Helsinki but it was still unbearably cold! So I am now staying with telematic artist Paul Sermon for one week. Here I will further consolidate my project, work on developing the networks I have established into some future projects and look at Salford University, where Paul is a professor in the Creative Technology programme .This is his beautiful house I am staying at:

Helsinki Fogscreen Project

Hi from Java Cafe again!
So today I am hopefully polishing off his project I am doing with Fogscreen. I developed this idea so that when you walk through the screen (possible as it is made from ultra fine water molecules) you are in effect teleported from one location in world in Second life to another…. It is actually proving difficult to even do a mockup and I have 4 hours to do it in…I am meeting with Jurgen Sheible (who I did the mobile phone workshop with two weeks ago) to quickly work out some things and then I have my final test time with the Fogscreen…
Fingers crossed!img_0671.jpgimg_0674.jpg
